Catherine Bouvier will be in Toronto at the CNETs conference representing the UK’s national charity for patients with neuroendocrine tumours (NETs). Catherine has 7 years experience as a Senior Nurse Specialist in NETs, at the Royal Free Hospital in London UK, and in 2006 co-founded the NET Patient Foundation. Since September 2007 Catherine took over the running of the charity on a full time basis, providing medical support, a help line, an updated website, and producing relevant patient information and educational tools. The main aims of the charity are:
-
To support patients and their families through a support line. This is manned by an experienced health care professional.
To raise awareness of neuroendocrine tumours through campaigns, attendance at relevant national/international NET conferences, road shows around the country, fundraising events, networking and collaboration with other charitable organisations. -
To improve the quality of life for patients and families through the moderated forum, help line, newsletter, support group meetings and information.
-
To support research initiatives at the NET centres around the UK as the charity grows.
-
To provide accurate and up-to-date information in the form of booklets, a quarterly newsletter, the website and patient support group meetings.
