Dr Robert Thomson was in family medicine for 25 years before joining the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. He was a member of the Board of Directors, Kingston Academy of Medicine, from 1980-1986. He was a delegate to the Council of the Ontario Medical Association through the 1980s.
Since 1998 Dr Thomson has been co-founder and administrator of two Kingston area after-hours medical clinics. In the late 1990s Dr Thomson was a Provincial Coroner. Since 2001 he has been a Medical Consultant-Provider Services Branch of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
Dr Thomson has been an MC in the Out of Country Unit from 2004-2008. He has been the Provider Services Branch Rep on the Ontario Health Technology Advisory Committee.
