Thursday, 13 May 2010
3:30 pm - Registration: Hotel Lobby.
3:00 - 5:00 pm - Learning how to Advocate (Barclay Room)
Presented by Ryan Clarke of Advocacy Solutions, attendees will learn about the basic concepts of advocacy, including what it is and why it’s important. We will also discuss how to advocate to government to bring about change, with an eye to some of the specific challenges facing neuroendocrine tumour patients and their caregivers.
The second part of the presentation will review the three core components of an effective advocacy strategy, providing the participants with a very practical, step-by-step process that will empower them to go away and immediately engage in advocacy.
And finally, attendees will be guided through all of the steps they need to advocate in person – how to get a meeting, how to prepare for a meeting, what to do at the meeting and how to follow up.
Please join us for this exciting session and learn how to become an advocate for change. Please RSVP to Maureen Coleman at maureenc@sympatico.ca.
