Rodney Pommier, M.D., received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon, his M.D. degree from OHSU and then completed general surgery residency at OHSU. Dr. Pommier has completed two separate fellowships in Surgical Oncology. The first was through the American Cancer Society at OHSU, studying under Dr. Eugene Woltering, who initiated Dr. Pommier’s interest in neuroendocrine tumors. Dr. Pommier’s second Surgical Oncology fellowship was at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York studying under Dr. Murray Brennan, another world-renowned expert who continued to foster his interest, research and experience with neuroendocrine tumors.
Dr. Pommier leads a large program at OHSU for treating patients with neuroendocrine tumors. He has been involved as investigator in multiple trials for NET patients including the trials for Sandostatin LAR, EPO906, RAD001, lanreotoide, and SOM230. He hosted Carcinoid/NET Conferences in Portland in 2001 and 2006. His other research interests are the diagnosis of NETs, liver-directed therapies and surgery for NETs. He is on the board of directors and the educational committee of the North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (NANETS).
